Ok folks June 26 promises to be interesting. Got loads of things going on so let’s have a look at how this pans out.

First a little consideration, sometimes life throws some weird shit at us and we try to make sense of it if we can.

As I’ve heard people say about parenting “There’s no handbook for this” and/or  “I’m just making it up as I go along”.

Well the same is true with life generally. We only get to pass this way once and we usually just stumble along doing the best we can. Mostly it works yet often we make some major mistakes.

I also think that life can be like work or any other pursuit, if you show me a person who has never made a mistake, I will say that is a person who has never done anything.

People who push the envelope a bit and dare to take a chance will sometimes get smacked down.

The important thing is to learn from that, get back up and try again. And if you’re lucky, next time round you’ll know what didn’t work on your first attempt.

It might seem then that my music link for this month The Doobie Brothers - What A Fool Believes (Official Music Video) [HD] - YouTube would be appropriate.

Anyway I must say, my garden is looking cracking. All that effort really paid off and I pretty much have that “Mediterranean Garden” I was looking for.  And I have been able to throttle back a bit on the garden maintenance because of my efforts.

The only thorn in my side is my lazy neighbour’s conifer hedge which sucks all the moisture out of my lawn, but “Say Lavvie” as Kenny Everitt used to say.

My old father in Law’s heavenly birthday was on June 2nd. I miss him terribly, he was such a nice bloke. A shining star amongst men. As I grow older I begin to wish we would tell people how much we like or admire them. They might not ever realise what you think or feel. We ought to do it while we can.

This month I have my hearing aid implant op along with various doctors, dentists builders and clients to deal with. So we’ll see how Teddy Barrett navigates through that lot.

With regard to clients, this month I have been to:

Blackwood (Wales) – Hospital Equipment manufacturer

Cardiff – Housing trust

Bristol – Automatic Vending Association

Merthyr Tydfil – Housing trust

Basildon – Waste processing plant

Braintree – Aerospace contractor

I unfortunately had to cancel a few clients to have my ear implant.

The other week one of the attendees on a training course said to me “Did you used to be an Electrician Ted?” my immediate response was “I don’t think I ever stopped”. But I can see what he meant.

One of my home projects this month was installing secondary double glazing in my porch.  My alter ego, the handsome, dashing, devil-may-care version of me is probably engaged in some daring-do adventure like hacking through the Brazilian rain forest to uncover some lost city or discover Xanadu in the Himalayas. Either that or breaking into the alarm system of the Union Bancaire Privée in Monaco to bolster his trust fund.

It doesn’t usually bother me what my alter ego is doing, but on occasion I get that that little devil on my shoulder saying “go on, do it. You deserve it” when on my other shoulder is that little angel saying “Come on Ted, you know that’s not right”.

Forty years ago, when I was working in security systems, one night in the Virginia Water Country Club in Surrey nearly changed my life forever with an offer, but my little angel said “walk away Ted”.

I guess that little angel has saved me from a life less noble but I could sometimes wring his bleeding neck for costing me a fortune.

Well I had the hearing aid implant and the operation was done under a local anaesthetic. The procedure was completely painless although I could feel and hear the surgeon drilling into my skull. The pain kicked in a few hours later after the anaesthetic wore off and it hurt like hell.

I’ve got to go back in early July for recovery assessment and connection of new hearing aid. So I will update you on that.

I’ve said before that we had great music back in the 70’s but what great films we had in the 80’s! Raiders of the lost Ark, Back to the Future etc the list is endless.

One of my many favourites is “The Three Amigos” particularly this scene: Three Amigos- Blue Shadows Even the tortoise says good night to “Little Ned”.

With regard to modes of transport, I have a Car, Motorbike and Electric Bike (that I occasionally fall off after a few Sherberts) and can ride a horse. That is why I think there is a great similarity between motorcycling and the cowboy lifestyle and why I mostly end my  blog with a quote that has a taste of cowboy wisdom. Just like this month.

So buenas noches, señoras y señores.

Remember “If you climb in the saddle, be ready for the ride”.

And may Blue Shadows be on ALL your trails.

Goodnight Ned.
